Alternative title: The Tax-Man stole most of my overtime money (seriously, I felt like wiping my butt with this month’s payslip in protest!)…So I decided to cheer myself up by purchasing a NutriBullet. My colleagues however, think this is a really odd and really rude contraption from Ann Summers…
“Why are you putting those leaf type things into your tub?” My brain seems unimpressed.
“It’s Spinach…It’s good for us” as I ran the greens under the tap.
“Spinach?” My brain is definitely unimpressed.
“It’s full of vitamins and minerals and-” I start to explain.
“Spinach?!” It’s now packing a bag ready to leave.
“Yes Spinach” I huff.
“In a smoothie? Spinach?…What the hell is wrong with you?”
My brain is probably filing for divorce as I type.
This is a very, very simple smoothie recipe for one…
Throw 1 handful of Spinach, 1 chopped banana and 1 chopped mango into a jug/container.
Add liquid of your choice (as I was using a NutriBullet and the 680ml cup I just filled to the max line …this works out at about 380ml liquid)…I picked water but am quite curious as to what this would be like with oat or nut milk! As with smoothies in general, it depends how thick or runny you like your mix to be as to how much liquid you add!
Then blitz, blitz, blitz…AND…
Enjoy! (For those a bit worried about the Spinach thing, you totally can’t taste it!).
Still not convinced by Spinach in a smoothie? Consider for a moment that it is rich in various vitamins (including K, A, C, E and the B’s, you know what I’m talking about – Riboflavin, Niacin, Thiamine, B6, Folic Acid!) plus it contains Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, Iron, Zinc AND *ahem* Dietary Fibre. Not too shabby huh?
Oh … When you folks make smoothies do you add any nuts / seeds to them? Shout out your faves!
